A magnitude 6.1 earthquake hit the central highlands of Costa Rica on Thursday claiming 19 lives so far. Another forty people are still missing and are feared buried in building rubble or by landslides. The tremor was centered at Poas Volcano National Park north of the capital of San Jose, and is the strongest earthquake to hit Costa Rica in 150 years. Local authorities expect the fatality figure to climb as rescue workers reach remote villages in the surrounding area. Go here for more info.
