Forget all that noise about eating dirt. The UN Food and Agriculture Association is apparently encouraging people to eat insects. They are a good source of protein, and, since they grow naturally, do not require large farms changing the environment. All together now: ewwwww!
I'm intrigued. To be totally honest, I'm not that into eating dirt, so bugs might be a good compromise.
But I hear that they don't taste that great.
Maybe roasting isn't where it's at--but a medium-rare bug could be just the ticket.
I agree with JGordon, but it depends on which bug. For instance, NO way to dung beetles.
wow so all the bugs that little toddlers eat when they are young actually provide a good source of protien for them. but i think that the only time i will eat a bug or any other insect will be if i am on fear factor.
IBI Call it what you want IBI
I'm not sure I should be sharing this, but I have a bug-eating story... When I was in high school, I was eating dinner at the table with my family & I saw an ant walking on the wall. I asked my mom if she would let me get out of doing dishes if I ate that ant, and she said yes. HA! I actually knew that it would be a good source of protein, so I caught the ant in my tortilla & ate it alive. (I really didn't want to do the dishes...)
That formic acid gives them a nice tang too, doesn't it?
Or so I've heard.
