Is the changing of the weather a sign of 2012?

Have you notice that this year is a bit different than these past few years? There is climate changes and I have found out that there is many places that have unusual weather going on. To find out what kind of weather is happening at other people's location I posted up a question on answers.yahoo.com (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ai6ehEHIOirNwIoaUPUQaEAazKI...) to see if the weather is really a sign or a warning of 2012. Downtown St. Paul: Downtown St. Paul

For an example. In Minnesota, on Spring there wasn't as much rain as it usually did every year. September was the month that has the most rain. It seems as if September was Spring instead of Fall. And going towards October their were a couple days that have snowed, it was unexpected. It's like the weather shifted a month forward. So for me the cause of 2012 could be the weather, but I wasn't sure about it so I ask another question "Is the changing of the weather a sign of 2012? on answers.yahoo.com to get peoples opinion. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Agak5C7_ZvFnrKhAwJySvp0azKI...) The answer that I get was no. Most of them said the changing weather is just a symptoms of global warming and climate changes that is caused by human and this made me think that they could be right about it. So what is your opinion? And what do you think of the weather? Do you think the weather has anything to do with 2012?

I think there is a possability that the change might be in the way we communicate. That verbal, voice, will start to deminish and frequency or telapathic communication will become populer among folks that are awake and aware of eachothers frequencies.
This method will cause drastic changes in government and other forms of clever trickery that has become so populer in the capitalist greed we have become so used to hearing that we have accepted as common place and has a great deal to do with what has screwed up this country.
World government will come in but in what way one would have to let ones mind wonder.

I think the idea that we humans can really change the earth in our short life span is false, our time on earth is insignificant in comparrison to the are of the earth,

The idea of humans having a true an impact on global warming is a money making fraud.

that makes no sense at all. the reasoning for the changing weather the world is experiancing is clearly connected to the extensive use of factories. Along with chemicals being let into the air from power plants etc; it however does not pretain to cell phone usage at all. Cell phone usage comes from satalite use which does not leave and overwhelming amount of chemicals floating in the ozone.

feel stupid.

notice s/b noticed is and is s/b are and location s/b locations. Science Buzz writers make errors, too. Maybe we are all just to excited to get our ideas out-we miss things! As far as weather having anything to do with 2012, not interms of any armegeddon (sp? ;-)), but predictive factors related to the Mayans understanding of Astronomy-maybe but not likely. Face it, looking at a few years does not show any kind of "big" picture, but what we are doing to the Earth is showing itself.

Its going to be a sad day regardless of the world ending or not. The way I lok at it is it will be a disaster both ways with the world ending being the better of the two. If the world ends we all die and Humanity end after that I along with eveyone else have no idea what will happen but we will no longer exist. However on Dec 21st or 22nd whenever it is there will be chaos. People will be running the street Rioting fighting and some will be killing and burning everything. In quiet rural areas people will probably gather together to possibly share their last hours together but in urban big cities like New York, Los Angelas, and other large ares it will be chaos and if the world doesnt end it will be very sad because so many people will be kille or kill themselves thinking the world is going to end anyway when it doesnt end up happening! I would say on that day your going to want to be woth your family because you never know what could happen out in space. Its a big place and so many thing could easily happen we just have to hope it doesnt happen to us!

well the mayas omly predicted that the world would end up in 2012 by looking at the stars n planet(astronomy) for them it seem to be a large interval;).......but when the world would end is only known to God (Allah)n no matter how much we search out we cant know it.
a common example is do any one of you know when i will end up (die) ???definetly not so how can we say that our planet is gonna end in 2012 .........mmm simply i would say that the weather changes are not the symptoms of 2012 rather they could be due to global warming or due to human activities...........:)

Pick up a science book and you'll see that our climate has been changing since the Earth was formed. Humans have very little impact on the Earth compared to nature itself. This doesn't mean that we shouldn't cut back on pollution and waste but we shouldn't be using fear tactics and false information.

That's mostly true. And thank goodness that the climate has changed since the Earth was formed! (Otherwise we wouldn't be here.)

The Earth, however, is more than four and a half billion years old, and when climate changes on a geological timescale like that, organisms generally have a chance to adapt. When climate seems to be changing on a much faster timescale—over the course of just a couple human generations, even—it's probably worth trying to figure out why that is, for our own sake.

That said, there's no evidence that any changes in the current climate have anything to do with the approach of 2012 and the end of a Mayan calendar cycle. (Which was the subject of this thread.)

I have been reading alot about 2012 and I believe we are going to experience alot of changes. Some of the greatest minds on this planet seem to think that the world will not end but we will have increased natural disasters. The sun could knock out our way of communication thus causing our computers and ways of communication to not work properly. This could make a huge impact on our way of life as we know it today. I plan on getting my family together and create a plan just in case. It is better to be safe than sorry. So i for one will be preparing for it.

the mayans predicted 2012 from thier calendar and the mayans where smarter than we are today when they had no technology what so ever aside from the instruments they built themselves

As JGordon mentioned in a few comments above, an awareness and attentiveness towards why climate changes is important.

People need to realize that sample size is a huge factor in predicting patterns. I don't think that a few oddly related weather events in one calender year is hardly enough reason to make a case for an increase in inclement bad weather peaking in 2012.

Furthermore, it's completely possible that because you have been conditioned by the hoopla surrounding the media focus on the alleged Mayan predictions for 2012, that you are more apt to correlate odd weather events to the "impending doom" of 2012. This sort of confirmatory bias is quite common, but you would be better served to take a more reasoned approach to qualitative information in order to move closer to the actual truth.

If we forget about Mayan prophecy for a bit, and focus on science....To answer the question, I would have to say "yes" and "no".
We are heading into peak solar activity. We ( the solar system) are sailing on a sea of plasma clouds as our galaxy passes through what astrologists call "Fluff". We will be enduring more coronal mass ejections (CME's) and electo-magnetic pulses (EMP's), so the chance of disruption in our satellite systems are a given, until the sun cycles through this period.
Concidering that the largest rift in our magnetic field is located over the equatorial area of the Atlantic and Caribbean, (one of the major "nurseries" for climatic disturbances like hurricanes) ,we probably will see an increase in storms. We may also see more arora borealis' displays further south.
There are some theories that we are experiencing a polar shift. Even though many people subscribe to Hapgood's theory...(it has been scienticifally debunked due to advancment in geological equipment...) it is not as dramatic as Hollywood makes it out to be. LOL. This is a process that would happen gradually over thousands of years.

On a different note....we are crapping up this planet. Overpopulation, wars, pollution, over-consumption.
We are definately in a leaky boat, and we better figure out how to plug the leak, or learn to bail.

It is clear that *something* is going on, Mayans, 2012 doomsday prophecies, or not. For decades, severe weather patterns have been increasing significantly. More tornadoes, more hurricanes, and more earthquakes. Maybe the result of global warming, I don't know. The graphical data can be seen on this page showing Severe Weather and Climate Trends.

WELL EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THERE OWN VISION OF 2012, I BELIEVE IN THE MAYANS THEORY AS WELL BUT IM NOT ALSO AGREEING THAT THE WORLD IS COMMING TO A END NEXT YEAR IN 2012 BUT I DO BELIEVE WE WILL HAVE PLENTY OF CRAZY UNEXPECTED DISASTERS THAT THE PEOPLE WILL NOT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE IT B/C PLENTY WELL MOST OF US WONT BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST BECAUSE WE DONT BELIEVE. GLOBAL WARMING CAN BE TRUE AND EXPLAIN FOR THE CRAZY CLIMATE THIS YEAR AND FOR THE YEAR TO COME, BUT TO ME I SEE IT THAT THE WEATHER TELLS ALOT ABOUT THE EARTH, AND THERES PLENTY THAT THE GOVERNMENT COVERS UP AND TELLS THE PEOPLE WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR, BUT EARTH ITSELF HAS A WAY OF SHOWING ITSELF THRU DIFFERENT WEATHER CHANGES AND WELL IF YOU TAKE NOTICE NOW, OBSERVING AND TAKEN NOTICE WILL BE NICE! COME ON PEOPLE OPEN YOUR EYES AND LOOK AT WHAT EARTH ITSELF IS MAKING ITSELF SHOW, ITS GIVING US SIGNS TO TAKE NOTE OF, HELL WE HAVE HAD PLENTY OF SIGNS ALREADY, AND THAT CAN BE TAKEN ALL THE WAY BACK TO HISTORY! THE WORLD IS JUST GETTING WORSE DAY BY DAY AND ITS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE IN 2012 FOR US PEOPLE, HELL WE AS THE PEOPLE ARE KILLING OURSELVES AND WE DONT EVEN REALIZE IT!

The mayans never said the world would end. They didn't believe in "end of anything". Their calendar simply ends on Dec 21, 2012, and rolls over to a new calendar. They went by 13's, and coincidentally, a couple weeks later is 2013. So its a celebration on Dec 21 for them, not an end. And as far as solar flares, read in NASA.com, there is nothing unusual going on out there.

Our weather is effected by many things such as events happening in & on the sun. I am on the fence with global warming, b/c I really think it's a bit of a hoax. However, I still think we should be careful of our emissions as it is toxic for humans to breathe. But, several studies have shown that methane from cows is the biggest offender, so unless we have less cow farms, not sure how we can solve this problem. Weather is cyclic, so take a look in the farmer's almanac and see if we are on par with what it says we should be expecting. I have to say though, the amount of tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, mudslides, etc has been massive for the last few years. I do not remember this many in all my life. Right now it is March and we have 80 degree weather in Ohio, very odd indeed. Normally Feb through mid March we have cold weather with snow and such, so though I am happy to have nice weather, it still concerns me a bit. Mildest winter ever, with only 2 real snows, unusual indeed.
