I want to donate my body!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would like to donate ny body to forensic science after my death because I have no family that cares and I don't believe in god so I do not want a funeral. So if my body could be used to assist in forensic science it would leave me content, to do so,
that sounds gross and then you would be dead so whats the point.
I have contemplated this decision myself. There is a place called the Body Farm that conducts research with human bodies. Bodies are placed in specific conditions so notes can be taken about its decomposition. This research is then used by forensic anthropologists and the criminal community in order to assist in investigations. I think knowing the time of death of a body has greatly improved with this kind of research. With research like this I see donating one's body to science as a great asset to the rest of the population.
Cool discussion.
Last summer, when the Science Museum of Minnesota was hosting Body Worlds, we had a whole feature on the topic of body donation. (Yes, we talked about the Body Farm.)
And if you search Science Buzz for "body donation," a whole page of resources pops up.

I want to dedicate this comment to the person above who wrote that they feel no one cares for them...There is somebody that does care, you just dont know it yet!Keep faith stron..i just wanted to reach out to you and lend you a helping hand..
don't be ridiculous. There is no good reason why anyone should care for this person's body after death. At least this way, some good can come of it - by donating your body to forensics you help to catch murderers, by donating your body to medicine, you help others to live.
It's better than having your body just rot in the ground. Imagine, maybe your body, although dead and smelly :P, could actually help people in the future with medical research.
I'm considering it as well.
This is a noble act, one that everyone can learn from for the future of science. My mother did this and am proud of her for doing so.
I too would like to donate my body for forensic science, I'm dyed in the wool atheist and the thought of some priest or preacher praying over me like he knew me makes me sick. And to the funeral homes preying on my wife and family doublely sickens me. this way I could better serve mankind and my family in death, I love them and they me ( I guess? ) so I feel this would be one of the best options for me. my only question is how do I contact the bone farm to see if I can donate my body to them? the thought of decomposing in the woods really appeals to me, my body returning to the land.
I agree in thinking that it would be nice for my body to decompose into the earth... yep totally considering donating my body to forensic science.
I am a 40 year diabetic, with failing kidneys and a bad heat and ciculartorial system. I am 58 years old and don't know how much longer life has for me.but since my organs can't be donated to help science save others maybe my degrading body can help doctors understand to help others in the future. I just wish the schools made it easier to contact them and discccuss if they want or could use it.
I plan on donating my body to science after I pass on. It has been priceless in the progress of science and medicine. I hope that even in my passing, my body can be used to learn from and hopefully save lives
i think that sience is very intresting.
For those who wish to become a doctor,
treat your patient well and do your VERY BEST
to protect and save them.
'Cause I dream to be a GREAT DOCTOR.
This stuff is so I gross I think!!!! Why would anyone want to do this??? I mean your body is plasticated...so disgusing...Peace:D Make the right decisions in life!
If anyone donate One's body due to his disbelief in GOD or one has no relatives, then I don't feel cool. But if someone wants to do so for the sake of science or humanity, then that is great. I really bow before such guy. It is the attitude that inspires not the option that to be opted. So if someone wants to donate his body, please do it for the sake of the betterment of science with a hearty smile. I am prepared for that if time or situation permits. Hope so.....
I am considering donating my body to science. The only way we can help find cures and he "hows and whys" of diseases and surgical proceedures is by giving the greatest gift you can give your dead body. There aren't many options to dispose of our remains once we are gone. Funerals are more for the living than the dead anyway, and after a few years people stop coming to your gravesite to leave flowers. People move from state to state therefore, they cannot visit the family gravesite--I cannot see the purpose of spending over 6,000 or more for a box to decompose in. Remember, even after embalming the body decomposes, just at a slower rate. Funerals are big business for all parties involved and the surviving family members pay the price especially if there is no life insurance. The only situation inwhich my opinion differs is when it comes to children. I have 2 children, and if something happened to them I would definately allow organ donation in order to try to save another person's life, or help the living in some way. These people who are "squeemish" about this topic forget that we don't need these parts anymore but there are millions that do. For example, there are people out there that need cornia transplants, hello! where do you think they get them from? Think about the people who have never seen the color red, or their mother or father's face or teir toes or the color of their hair...to help someone to have better vision, or hearing, or whatever is just a miracle. Anyone who reads this, put yourself in a person's shoes who is on a wait list for an organ and they are running out of time but, with it they can have a better life, hey look, when I am dead I don't need that part anymore why not help some unfortunate person-maybe it could be one of you some day-Ultimately this is a difficult decision for anyone, and eventhough religion can play a factor, I was baptized a Catholic, but I don't go to church (I have too many issues with the Catholic Church) but the teachings I learned as a child still remain an will always remain with me. It is my "soul" that is involved with the "afterlife" if ther is one-and not the physical body, overall most religions teach us to be good people and to help our fellow man-well what better way than this-help your fellow man not the funeral directors bank account.
To all of you out there thinking about this decision, good luck and I wish all of you the best in your lifetimes.
why would you want to donate your body? that is nasty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not ever donate my body ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that could save ur child . then if it was what would you do let ur kid die because you did
you dont know what your saying.your not in that body anymore give someone a life.you will be rewarded for doing a good thing.my baby brother just passed andhe donated his body to science .he was 49 .navy man . a good man that knew how to love people
Donating your body and/or organs for scientific research or to help others is a noble act. I have a hard time believing that nobody cares about you but that doesn't mean that you should not consider donating. There are a number of forensic disciplines that benefit from body donations including forensic psychiatry. I know it sounds odd but it a forensic psychiatrist can learn a lot about what makes people tick and you can help future generations.
Donating one's body to Forensic lab after death. This is a good contribution to people of coming generation to learn about. What is wrong if someone can learn out of your body when it's no use for you. Besides, your body will be decayed under the ground after funeral too. So, it's better to give out for a noble cause.

Body donation is tantamount to being friendly with environment and cool with mother-earth. It's part of "going green" because the body needs no pouring of toxic chemicals once it is donated. It adds life to those who are short of it. It also gives hope in finding cure for diseases.
