Nyuck, Nycuk...but actually I wondered the same thing Gene. This image from the research paper shows that certain snails' shells coil right and others' coil left. That is what they mean by right and left handed.
My sister is left-handed. And whenever we tease her about it, she insists being left-handed is an advantage, pointing out all the famous left-handed artists and athletes through history. Turns out she may be on to something:
The researchers studied about 1,800 snail fossils, looking for scarring evidence of a predator attack. Scarring was found more frequently on right-handed snails, the study said.
To which I can only respond:
Snails have hands?

Who's Roberta, and why would you make fun of someone for being left-handed (or right-handed)?
Why does anybody care about snails that are left handed and right handed anyway?
That's actually a good question. These scientists seem to be studying snails to make a larger statement that being left handed may not be as hard on humans as we thought. Seems like in some cases in nature being a specialized sub-group actually is advantageous.
also......left handed people are considered more creative.
speaking from a true lefthander.

I've always wondered if the left-handed creativity theory was true, since I'm left-handed myself and everyone tells me what a great artist I am.
So, I'm trying to look into the fact if there really are that many left-handed artists. Can anyone give me a list of them?
I also heard that left-handed people are more creative.
I just spent an hour or so surfing the Web, trying to find evidence for or against this theory. It seems that a LOT of people have heard it! But nobody cites any studies or other proof that this is true.
I also found a bunch of websites that say, no, it's not true, and they base this on their explanation of how the brain works. But, again, they don't link to any studies or medical sources.
The most compelling statement I found was one that said "creativity" is so complicated, so hard to define or test, that there is no way of measuring how creative any group of people is.
I have heard that right handed people are just as creative asleft handed people. Cassie also thinks so, and Katie, Sara, Jasmine and De Lane.
