Why is water considered a commodity?
Taste is clearly an oppinion - isn't there value in creating a "flavor" of water that is in demand?
All over the world there are problems with safe drinking water. From food, health, learning, manufacturing...every aspect of life depends on water. During time I spent in 3rd world nations. What do you think the best way is to solve problem? Why do people still suffer from lack of water when the technology exisits to solve this problem? Is water a right or a priveledge?

Leo,
Excellent question. I guess it is a commodity until it is scarce. Then it becomes valuable. I forsee water costing more than oil one day.
Taste is the key and maintaining a good taste leads to higher acceptance and consumption. Unfortunately, taste and quality do not always go hand-and-hand. I guess that is the reason we blend in untreated water with treated water to bring back that taste that they like. As long as we keep the level of contaminents as low as possible to still maintain the taste, we get very good acceptance.

What do YOU think Robert? Are there any current studies on the web you can find about water use? Are there any current solutions that are better than others in your opinion? What about play pumps?
Joe,
There are more studies on the web about water use than I can keep track of. Some solutions are better than others, but it always comes down to what solution is being targetted. The play pumps you mention are great in situations where good quality water is present just not reachable. But what happens when even the ground water supply is contaminated with ions that are dissolved. It requires something like reverse osmosis, evaporation, or chemical treatment to remove the contaminents at that point.

i contribute 2 saving the world through water.
Sugar Bear,
What specifically do you do? I love to hear about new ways to save water so that I can incorporate them into my daily routines.
Thanks,
Robert
