Hello my name is Cynthia. I am creating a web site on the Chinese zodiac for Upward Bound, a summer program at the University of Washington. I would like to use the monkey picture on your website, but I would need your permission.
Please reply as soon as possible because the due date for my project is July 31, 2007
Thank you,
Cynthia
Hi, Cynthia.
I can't give you permission to use the monkey picture, but I can tell you how to get it.
We got it from the photo sharing website, Flickr. (You can find the photo here.) If you look near the bottom of the page, on the right side, you'll see (under "Additional Information") the words "Some rights reserved." That means that, under certain circumstances, the person who took the photo is willing to let you use it without obtaining explicit permission. (Click on the words to see the restrictions.) If your proposed use meets those criteria, you can download and use the photo. If not, you'll need to contact the photographer (Hector.) and get permission.
Good luck.
