Well you still have plenty of time to study up and take the right classes to find out if you are truly interested in volcanology. Volcanologists usually have at least a college degree in Geology. To get ready for that you should study all the basic sciences in High School, but also take any Chemistry or Earth Science electives that are available.

In college, you will probably want to take more advanced chemistry classes such as physical chemistry. You will also likely focus your Geology studies on mineralogy, geochemistry, petrology, structural geology, and field methods. If you are still seriously interested in researching volcanoes, you probably want to consider graduate study in the field. Here is a list of graduate schools that have concentrations on Volcanology.

It may sound like allot of school but you will get to go on lots of amazing field trips and possibly travel to some beautiful locales to study this exceptional force of nature.
