Minnesota and Mississippi river valleys
The Minnesota and Mississippi valleys are much wider than the rivers they hold. That’s because 10,000 years ago, at the end of the last Ice Age, a massive lake drained through here, cutting a deep valley. As the water emptied the rivers shrank, but the wide valleys remain.

You could have said more about this. I read once about how the River Warren that cut the MN river valley was a mile deep and rock-floored and raged for I can't remember how long after the ice dam broke on Lake Aggasiz. People would like that stuff, wow factor.
