JGordon says:

In Aquenes' defense, there are several active volcanoes on the Hawaiian islands (Kilauea, Mauna Loa and Haleakala are all considered "active", and I could be missing some). That means gas and lava and the works. They aren't constantly exploding, but there are places where you can go see flowing lava, and new volcanic rock is always being formed.

Even if the Hawaiian volcanoes were all dormant or extinct, the islands are made of volcanic rock, so it would be weird to find any other kind of rock there.

i found a agaite at a camp i went to, that is near Lake Superior, and we were learning about all kinds of rocks and i learned that the rock with a magnetic fouce is a magnite. we learned about how rocks are formed and how the layering of lava can form special kinds of rocks that are very fragile and flack off sometimes.

Volvanos are very interesting when it comes to rock formation I can tell you that. Sometimes the lava will form a special type of rock called Pumice. Pumice is a rock with a very low density, and even floats on water!
