I know! Where I live there are always cicadas buzzing about. What fascinating creatures, eh? :D It has always been a dream of mine to study cicadas from a scientist's perspective. Oh, how i wish that......
Oh Cicadas... well let's just say life would not be nearly the same without them (wink) One of my lads studied 'em back in the day... learned a bit from him about their habits, specification, food, predators, and reproduction. Really intricate stuff.

In our house we called them zoo zooers. When grandma hear the zoozooers in the summer time, then fall was just about 6 weeks away. Now that my grandmother is gone, it is my turn. I keep a record of when I hear them each year. Guess what? They have been within 2 days of the same time every year!
Cicadas eat tree sap and come and come out every 20 years. They are very loud!!!

I know that they shed their skin, just like snakes do. I remember my uncle finding one, i still have it in an old pill container. haha They are fascinating eh?
well, i know that cicadas are tiny( yet supposed to e big) creatures that live in your very bacyard. I also know that a cicadas bodys consist of nothing specil. i also know that cicadads eat other cicadas sometimes
and that they are so cool,and the sound they make comes through there troughts, not thruogh there backs, like some people perdict. cicadas are very cool, and shall always be welcomed in are hometowns

one of the cicadas has one wing down and one wing up. i also that the skins have cracks in their backs.

the cicadas are way more interkit than you think. They have interkit designs on their backs and wings. you'd never know by just looking at one. it looks simple, but its way more complictd than that!!!!!

I've seen a whoooole lotta cicaedas in my time......(did I spell that wrong?) and I've usually seen them on tree trunks.....they blend in well.
The cicada is only seen in its adult form once every 17 years - the rest of the time, it is in its larval stage underground
they should stay underground.

Cicadas are often found in trees and forests. they sound like crickets. Dead or alive, cicadas make great science. Cicadas are harmless, and can be fed to carnavourus bugs such as grasshoppers, spiders, and harvestmen

i see these bugs all the time at my house.
they burrow underground until they get wings. sometimes they will burrow for a decade (10 years).

I think they look disgusting....i'm not much of a bug lover i really only like butterflys....i'd be really scared if one was by me...they certinly arent a cute pet i'd want in my house :)

Cicadas shed their skin whenever they grow a lot and don't fit into their old skin anymore. They don't live very long just like a lot of other bugs.

One time I sat on a cicada shell.I didn't know untill my mom brushed it off my back!
they can't fly when they hatch because their wings are wet.
The lay there eggs in the ground and then they come out as adults, (i think) :)
when my dad was mowing with the weedwacker,he was hit in the back by something. when he turned around, he got hit by it again. it was a cicada. he set the weedwacker down, and the cicada kept attacking the weedwacker.
I usually only hear them I dont see them really, and when I do hear them its usually only in the summer.
