When i was about 9 my mom suggested that we raise Monarch Butterflies. It was a fun way to learn about caterpillars, they are very soft. We had to feed them Milkweed. Milkweed is a plant, that bleeds white liquid. It is very sticky if you get it on your hands. ^_^

When the catapillars of Monarch Butterflies are born, they eat and eat milkweed. They grow very rapidly, and then they start building a cocoon. They undergo meatamorphasis, and turn into a beatiful Monarch butterfly!

Milkweed makes a fantastic bit of tinder if you are trying to make a fire. Typically the closed pods are best since the silky parts stay nice and dry.

The cotton's really soft and it looks like snow when it flies through the air, but it can get kind of annoying when you keep breathing it in, maybe even dangerous (that last part I'm not so sure about, though).

Milkweed was used during world war II to make lifejackets and to make many other devices, and milkweed was sometimes used to make pillows (rarely)
Many people/ children used to pick milkweed for the war effort, espeecially if they lived on farms. Milkweed was considered VERY useful!!!!

i saw a milksweed once and it was so cool and my mommy got a picturewith me and it and i was tryng to have the milksweed in the picture and i snezed and the milksweed got all mesd up and i was snezing and my mommy was laffing but it was funny because i wasnt alergick i had a cold that day but i got dayquil kids from mommy so now i'm better. there are caterpillars on milksweed.

You can find milkweed in lots of places, and if you find a caterpillar, you should feed them milkweed, not normal food, because they like milkweed. It also is very soft and fluffy.
