So … what’s it like up there?

Have you ever wanted to design a rocket? Or ride in one? Or perform experiments on the Space Station? Want to know what it takes to send something into space? Or how to replicate—here on Earth—some of the conditions astronauts and objects experience in orbit?

Write a question for Professor James Flaten and the MnSCG, and find out what it takes to become an astronaut, an aerospace engineer, or a space scientist!

With a digital camera as its payload, a weather balloon "near-space" mission can give you a beautiful glimpse of the edge of space and record the conditions there, which are very similar to outer space. Through outreach programs like this one, Professor Flaten and the MnSGC help students experience a world beyond our planet, and point them towards the science and careers that make space exploration possible.
