| Roger wanted to know what the white stuff on the pig's chin is. Well, it's clusters of tiny maggots, each much, much smaller than a grain of rice. The fact that we're seeing them on the OUTSIDE of the pig now, instead of concentrated in the moist areas (like the eyes, nose, mouth, etc.) means that bacterial decomposition is moving along and the tissues are getting softer. |  Aren't you glad Roger asked? Thanks for the close ups. I have been wanting close-ups. The video adds a new dimension. The second video must have been really gross because it is no longer available.

But, yes, it's really, really gross.
My wife just saw it on my monitor, immediately left the room and said she never wanted to see that dead pig again. I hope you put in for hazard pay for this.
Yeah, people seem to have one of two reactions--total fascination, or total disgust--with no in-between.
I don't want people to be upset and offended. But *I* think it's fascinating. And the details that just seem amazingly gross to me are bigtime clues to folks like Valerie Cervenka.
And I should say, too, that while I was not about to touch the pig (barehanded, anyway), it really isn't very smelly. And the maggots are somehow less disgusting out there, alone with the pig, than they would be if I discovered something dead in my kitchen or basement.

A couple things—
We should have a rotting animal at the science museum all the time! Next month should be horse month! And when it gets too cold, we could just have them inside.
Also, I forgot that I already had music playing when I put my headphones on to hear the videos, and thought that they had been synced to a soundtrack. A little music really classes up the circle of life.

I am sorry if this sound mean to people, what is the point of watching a pig rott? If you can watch a pig rott will you watch some one get hurt and don't do any thing to help?
I don't think that you can correlate the two things. After all, the pig isn't hurting, and there isn't anything we can do to help, right?
But, more to the point, here's why we're watching the pig rot.
Watching this on an empty stomach makes me hunger for some BBQ Ribs.... i'm thinking Famous Daves!!!

The video of the pig was boring.Not enough gore.It was a little cool I guess.I like the part with black goo in the pig's mouth.
i think the pig thing is cool and i never knew that pigs are similar to humans. i am her friend and i think that watching this pig rot was terrible!!!!! so sad
we both think that it is pretty dang gross but i guess interesting i hope you all enjoy!!!!
