So, should I take the treatment?

What do YOU think? Do you trust any of these treatments? Are there any you reject? If you were sick, what would YOU do?

That’s your call. We are not qualified to give medical advice. (In fact, wasn’t that question #5?) Only you can decide whether a given therapy is right for you. But you can sort the good ideas from the not-so-good by seriously thinking about the five basic questions:

  • What does it cost?
  • Is it effective?
  • What are the side effects?
  • How strong is the evidence?
  • Says who?

And always, consult with a trained medical professional before beginning any treatment.

I stongly dislike and have a fear of needles so i would probably go with the magnetic treatment. some peoplle say that needle therapy doesn't hurt at all because it doesn't puncture deep enough and the needle is s thin that you can hardly feel it. if didn't have phobia of needles I would probably use the needle therapy!!! I am ok with humans but i sometimes dislike them. sometimes they are mean and thats not cool.

I think it is important to understand the prominence of pharaceutical companies in western medicine. These companies have a lot invested in proving the health beenfits of their medicine. Perhaps we should consider the validity of tests performed in Eastern settings as well to compare to the results of our Western sudies.

This exhibit is willfully ignoring excellent research at gold standard levels regarding acupuncture for pain relief. It is degrading how much ignorance is promoted when empirical research is available to show otherwise. The safety claims are also incorrect in light of all large studies on the specific topic. I consider thisprofessional slander and may cancel my membership if this level of pervasive misinformation is presented in the museum.

There are randomized controlled trials (independently funded) that establish both the safety and efficacy of statin medications. As with any therapy, the decision to take it should be an informed discussion between you and your healthcare provider. If you want to spend your money on magnets, then it's a tax on people who don't understand science.

There are both anecdotal AND other forms of study on ear candles, magnets and acupuncture. In fact, most medical doctors refer patients for acupuncture because insurance PAYS for it. And it is hella cheapter than pharmaceuticals. Or do the pharmaceutical companies fund this exhibit?

Acupuncture is fairly painless and stimulates the area in order for your body to heal itself - whether for pain or other ailments, I've found it to be helpful. Not sure whether or not I would try any of the other treatments - depends on what was going on and discussion with my doctor and family.

Some of these things can be helpful, but all but one put you at a great risk for diseases and actupunture is never safe. So the question is: why would doctors produce these things when they know they have a risk? Obviously they don't think.
