The Governor's plan

Governor Tim Pawlenty

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty proposes requiring that state utilities produce 25% of the energy that Minnesotans consume from renewable sources by 2025. And the state will fine utilities if they don't meet the goal.

"The obligation should be firm enough to ensure we reach our goals, but flexible enough to allow utilities and regulators to respond to changing markets, consumer demand and regulatory conditions,"

Pawlenty said.
