A random search for something else just popped up this site where you can post your beauty product questions for real scientists to answer. (I'm not a heavy user of beauty products, but I found it fascinating.) Here's a request, though: if you post to Beauty Brains, post your question here, too. And then, when you get a response, let us know what they said!
Actually, we write about any personal care product such as things you might not think of as beauty products, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. You can ask about kind of chemical you put on your body.
I have a burning question that has plagued me for 14 years....
When using a face wash, after rinsing, should my skin feel squeaky tupperware-y clean or kinda silky smooth with a hint of slime? Please don't say inbetween, I am obvioulsy exaggerating.
I sometimes use Asian made bar soaps with bamboo salt or charcoal that clean my face but make it feel like I've either stripped all the natural good oils or left a layer of scum on my skin.
But when I use a western product I feel like my skin is left a little slimy. Granted, there are different products for different skin, but assuredly, this 27 year old woman has tried all different kinds.
The same applies to body soap, my husband uses bar soap (Dial) and I use liquid body wash...... Can you help explain the differences?
Thank you so much, this is a wonderful service!
