This is very cool, especially on the day an asteroid is making a near-miss (or near-hit) passing of Earth. From what I can gather, a bolide entered Earth's atmosphere about 20-30 miles above somewhere in Russia causing debris to rain down and blow out windows in buildings. Someone recorded a spectacular video of the bolide coming in and burning up in the sky. The original posting was removed but the video has now reappeared online. The second video records some of the debris making landfall.
Wow! This is a bigger story than I first realized. Several hundred people have been injured by the debris. This is one of those stories that will get bigger as the day goes on. Here's a compilation of several videos of the event that includes some photos and video of damage.
This was the largest recorded meteor to strike the Earth in over a century according to Nature. That article has some great details on the infrasound detectors being used to measure the atmospheric explosion.
the first one wow!!!!!!!!
the second one i didnt see the hole thing and were i got looked pretty fake
The second video showed only the smoke or vapor trail left by the bolide but it contained the very loud sonic boom and some of the subsequent damage.
