Eclipse confirms mythology?

Researchers have used a solar eclipse to determine that Odysseus returned home from the Trojan Wars on April 16, 1178 B.C. Not bad for a character widely thought to be fictional.

One of the most interesting aspects of this article is a link to this NASA website that lists historical eclipses and events in ancient history that they might be tied to. I wonder what other astronomical events might serve as historical markers?
