A once-in-15-year event is going on right now at Como Park's conservatory. The nasty-smelling corspe flower is in blossom and really fouling up the air. We've had other corpse flower features here in the Buzz, but I believe this is the closest occurance we've had to the home office. Sniff at your own risk!!

The gardeners at Como's Conservatory are blogging this corpse flower event (click on the red words to see their blog). Corpse flower

They have a time lapse video and also a live webcam. I went to see it Tuesday and took a picture of their sign explaining the life cycle of the corpse flower.

Nice update, Art. But what I really want to know is how it smelled?

It was not smelling on Tuesday but there was another similar flower that someone had just brought in. It smelled very much like a dead mouse.

Bob, Como Park's corpse flower is the offspring from Perry, an Amorphophallus titanum at Gustavus Adulphus College. Perry looks huge and can be seen putting on a show via webcam (click words in red to see).
