Too drunk to fly a space ship? Impossible.

It’s been a rough year for NASA. It turns out that some of our astronauts are a little more wild and crazy than we might hope. The incident in February with the cross country trip in diapers pretty much covered the “crazy” part of that, but a report released last week made the “wild” part evident too.

Following the jealous rage road trip, NASA launched an investigation of the behavior of its astronauts, and the resulting report claims that on at least two occasions astronauts were allowed to fly the space shuttle, despite being so intoxicated that flight surgeons and colleagues warned against it.

When reached for comment, the astronauts involved had this to say in their defense: “The thing about NASA… NASA’s great, I mean, I love NASA… But NASA needs t’learn how to have fun… you know? I mean, I understand, I understand… you don’t have to tell me that flying the space shuttle is important… I’m an astronaut! I went to… Heeey! I know that guy!”

Last night Dave Letterman pointed out that with these new NASA findings, Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton now qualify to be astronauts! But seriously, I have to wonder how it would feel to be drunk in the weightlessness of space. I think it would be less of a "high" than on Earth.
