About once a week activity

Without actually photographing yourself, document your identity in photos. Take pictures of your clothes, personal objects, people you associate with, and/or the places you visit-- anything that you think represents your identity. Post one or two photos a week to the "Snapshot" Buzz blog.

My great grandpa taught me to make baked beans, made me my first mix tape (the Chipmunks, Spike Jones, and an audio letter), and make home movies. Now I make videos myself.

But what does this say about our identities -- beyond being inherently superior to dog owners?

Oh come on, inherently superior to dog owners?!? I used to think that both cat and dog owners were on an equal plain but after reading your comment, now I'm not so sure. If you were included in this so called superiority, I would expect that you wouldn't make a remark like that without at least having some scientific facts to back it up with. Btw, if you haven't guessed by my slightly ticked attitude--don't worry I'll get over it--I have dog(s) and no cats. Izzy

We have three-and-a-half cats. (The gray long-hair is a stray who comes in at night and for meals, but spends most of the day prowling the neighborhood.)

They are all pretty well-behaved. The black one is our oldest. She mostly wants to be left alone, and will swat the others if she's not in the mood for company. The orange striped one is our youngest, and perhaps the most willing to play. The gray shorthair is the escape artist, but otherwise very mellow.

There, now you know about my cats' identities. And they're not even registered Buzz users! ;-)

I guessed about the black one being mischievous because my black cat is very sneaky. He manages get himself locked in the pantry, unclips his large tupperware where the kibble is stored and climbs in to chow down. No food is safe when left unattended and he is around!

You'll see me carrying this around all day at work. I like to drink out of this glass water bottle because it doesn't leach pthalates and it has a smaller carbon footprint than steel. And it's so much cheaper than pre-bottled water. I'm thrifty and I try to make choices that are healthy for me and the environment.

Certainly.

1. laptop - work.
2. speakers - soundtrack. I also rewrite lyrics to songs and substitute the sentences I'm writing. I need music to write.
3. cell phone. I've learned the hard way not to have more than one window open while writing. In the past I've closed a window and hadn't saved my work. Cell phone is access to outside world.
4. Brandy - enough said.

Here's The Picture That Best Describes My Life
Here's The Picture That Best Describes My LifeCourtesy Mark R. Trost

Here's the picture that best describes my life.

1. I like suits. I have suits. I just don't wear them anymore. I am a suit kind of guy. I am more a manhattan than a beer. My neighborhood bar serves beer.

2. I always have my hands in my pockets. Often it's to prevent me from hitting someone. And often it's because I'm in a great deal of pain and I clinch my fists in the hope I won't scream or cry. Mostly it's because I carry my rosary in my pocket and I often say it while I walk.

3. I'm always waiting. Always. My life is about waiting. And hope.

4. I'm a very social person. I laughed because I took 15 different people into my favorite bar in the last 3 weeks. But everyone always tells me I'm "unique." Unique is a sad and lonely word. There's no two in unique. I'm never lonely; I'm always alone. I'm often sad. My life is often about loss.

5. I have the ability to walk away. I can walk away. I can forget.

6. I live on the edge. I live at the peak. I live with my soul exposed. I live unzipped.

7. It's faceless. I'm cloaked in anonymity. Not by my choice. I'm either read by those who don't know me. Or I'm surrounded by those who don't understand me. I'm "unique." I am unlike. I have no features that are alike.

8. It's the cover of my novel. I've put 4 years into my novel. It is the summation of my career.

I bought this picture for the cover of my novel because it is my life.

Reply to 2. Mark when I read the first two lines I laughed out loud. "I always have my hands in my pockets. Often it's to prevent me from hitting someone." I thought to myself, "hmm perhaps this is why I have been keeping my hands in my pockets so much?" Then I read the next line and I felt sad. I can't even imagine living in such physical pain and it surprises me when I realize that so many do. But oddly enough the last line made me feel envious. I wish I had a rosary, I wish I knew how to use it, or maybe just that I had something that was so meaningful and comforting in my own life.

Luraloo says:

This photo represents my identity in a couple ways.

First, I spent the end of my childhood growing up in Southern Switzerland. It was the first place I lived away from my family, it was where I met my first (and second) boyfriend, it opened my mind to the world and taught me a lot about myself in the process.

I took this photo 3/4 of the way up my first high altitude climb. It was maybe one of the hardest things I've ever physically attempted. Intellectually it was a huge challange as well. I had reaccuring nightmares all of the night before about never making it up. Now, I am addicted to the sport, I miss mountains!

On another level, the mountain symbolism is fairly obvious. Life sometimes feels like a tedious schlep up a steep slope engulfed in cloud. I occasionally have moments where the clouds disappear and I see the scenery of my life and I am stunned, awed, and very grateful. But it's hard not to become disoriented when the clouds return again.
