I found a catfish corpse by the lake at my cabin. I buried it in the sand. Was that the right thing to do?
It probably didn't hurt. Whether it ends up on the shore or stays in the water, a dead catfish will decompose. Burying it may have slowed that process a little bit -- but, at the same time, probably hid the stink.

A catfish skull is made up of many small, loosely connected pieces. Usually, when the catfish dies and the body decomposes, the skull falls apart. This one is actually in pretty great condition.

We found it inside a dead catfish. Our scientists saw a dead fish floating in the river and added it to our collection. That's pretty much the only way to get a complete skull.
