This may look like a random pile of fall leaves but each is delicately hinged to the next and in happier days supported an animated 7 pound catfish from our very own Mississippi River!

Where do you think its whiskers attached?

Well not in the natural environment. And I doubt they would be able to survive for very long in a bucket of milk. I wonder why you ask??

It probably didn't hurt. Whether it ends up on the shore or stays in the water, a dead catfish will decompose. Burying it may have slowed that process a little bit -- but, at the same time, probably hid the stink.

On the contrary!

A catfish skull is made up of many small, loosely connected pieces. Usually, when the catfish dies and the body decomposes, the skull falls apart. This one is actually in pretty great condition.
