Flying squirrels show us one of the ways organisms can move through the air: they have flaps of skin between their limbs that let them glide short distances. Other types of organisms move through the air in different ways.

Flying squirrles can be graceful, yet they can also be very clumsy. Where we live, flying squirrles zoom through the woods. When the glide, they are fast and graceful. But landing is difficult, even for seasoned flyers. We once saw a spectacle that ended with a dazed squirrel. There was a squirrle trying to aim itself of the roof and into a squirrle feeder! It missed, and layed on the ground for a few minutes, then it scamperd up the tree, unharmed.

flying squirrels are called flying squirrels because of the extra flaps of skin on either side of their bodies, causing them to "glide" through the air when they leap from tree to tree.

Gene says:

The sugar glider is a marsupial, and thus not a true squirrel, though it does glide in a similar manner.

There are 43 species of flying squirrels around the world. Other than the two in North America, they are found mostly in east and southeast Asia, though some species live in northern India, or even as far away as Finland!

Flying squrirls are awesome, but they don't really fly, they glide! think of how interesting it would be; you wake up when you want, you eat whatever you want (as long as it isnt poisonus) and you get to fly as much as you want! cool!

the mysterious, the facinating, the squirrley FLYING SQURILES!! But can they really fly? the answer to this question is this; pfft, yeah, right. squrrlss can't fly (du, no wings). Instead, they actually glide!!! so why aren't they called gliding squrrels? this, my frinds, is obviously part of an underground conspiracy plotted by the government!! Now what is the full conspiracy? the world will never know.... or will they?
