Tiger in food chain

In the forest ecosystem tiger sits at the top of the food chain as a tertiary carnivore and primary predator. Along with other major carnivores as leopard it acts as a control mechanism for herbivores or consumers. Thus it controls the population of herbivores and preserves the forest and grassland ecosystem.

The interdependency of living forms in a food chain is obvious as the wild tiger is dependant upon herbivores for its survival where he maintains there population which in turn prevents the grasslands from being overgrazed.

The herbivores depend upon the producers as grasses, herbs, shrubs, algae, fungi and large trees for survival and they in turn maintian a balance in vegetation by controling the extent of vegetation or flora.

Birds survive on herbs, shrubs and trees on fruits and nector and in turn act as seed dispersal agent for them to spread the population of the floral elements in an ecosystem.

Thus all life forms including tiger are interlinked with each other in an ecosystem and their survival depends upon how intact the ecosystem is.

the food chain will be afectated because the tiger's prey won't have anything to eat. so then that prey will begin to passaway, and so on

tiger is carnivores & secondary consumer. it depend on the primary consumer. if tigers are not present then the population of primary consumer increase & all the food chain is disturbed.

lets take a simple eg..
grass ---> deer ---> tiger
if there is no tiger than there will be an increase in the population of deer, therefore reducing the grass population. if there is less grass then the no of deer will eventually decrease, hence leaving no creature left in the food chain.. and if the food chain gets destroyed there will be no food web.. thus eventually wiping out the entire living population.. so

Thor says:

Seeing as elephants are herbivores, they're not likely to eat tigers. Tigers are a top of the food chain species, and typically would be hunted by other predators only when they're old, sick or injured. If they die of some other cause, their remains are eaten up by decomposers – bacteria and such that process the tiger parts into nutrients that enrich the soil that help feed plants and start the food chain all over again.
